Last Thursday, June 24th marked the official opening for the much awaited Lincoln Park Zoo Nature Boardwalk. Surrounding the perimeter of South Pond, this revitalized 8-acre landscape will provide a haven for native birds, frogs, fish, insects and mammals while serving as an outdoor classroom for students of all ages.

Lincoln Park Zoo President and CEO Kevin J. Bell comments, “This has been in the works for quite a number of years. Seven years ago, we started thinking of new ways to talk about the environment and ecology. We realized that we have this pond on the south side of the zoo, and we decided to turn it into something meaningful and different. A place not just for the people in the park but also for exotic wildlife as well.” Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and State Representative Sara Feigenholtz were also on hand to celebrate this great new addition to Chicago’s Park District.

Just as the new Nature Boardwalk provides an enriched environment for all of the native wildlife, Lucien Lagrange’s newest architectural feat, Lincoln Park 2520, will provide a decadent urban oasis to its residents. With a one acre private lawn and garden, soaring balconies and panoramic views, fitness center and indoor lap swimming pool, meeting rooms, a comfortable lounge, screening theater, meditation room and an elegant clubroom with a catering kitchen for your entertaining needs; these condo residences are luxury at its finest.

After several months of paperwork, meetings and coordinating with officials and consultants, we are pleased to announce that Lincoln Park 2520 has been approved for admission into the Green Permit Program. The City of Chicago encourages building design, construction and renovation in a manner that provides healthier environments, reduces operating costs and conserves energy and resources. We are proud to have our newest luxury condo residence as the newest development to this program.

Many requirements factor into the qualification for projects to be considered within this Green Building Program.
The DOB Green Permit Program allows applicants to incorporate a number of green building strategies and technologies from a select group of menu items. Exceptional water efficiency and management, provide a natural or hybrid ventilation area, an excess of bike parking, and incorporating green roofs are all key ways to qualify for the permit.

Click here for more information on the DOB Green Building Permit or visit the Chicago Center for Green Technology to learn more about building green homes in Chicago.
